If I'm going from Beijing to Hanoi by train, do I have to buy the tickets in advance, or can I just go to the train station and by tickets for the same day?

You can find a few similar threads in this forum, as I know, the direct train from Beijing to Hanoi was no longer operated. You can take train from Beijing to Kunming then get off and change a bus to Hanoi.
If you decide to travel by train no matter what is your destination, buying tickets in advance is wise.

Thank you a lot!!

Do you genereally recommend that we order the tickets before even going to Beijing - or is there always space on trains if we order 1 week in advance? Where can we order in advance?
