travel from shanghai to Guangzhou + hotel

HOTBMW Points: Join Date: Sep 13, 2005 Status: offline	Hi I will be in Shanghai next month and will travel to Guangzhou. How long does it take by train? Is it a pleasant trip for sight seeing? What is the train system like? Also, any recommendations on which hotel to stay at close to the Pazhou complex. Around a 3 star. Also close to nice restaurants & tourists. Thank you in advance. Rob

Hi again, BaoMa!

I havent done this train route myself, but as far as I remember people told me it is really troublesome by train to Guangzhou.

But for Guangzhou shopping try the market behind the railwaystation.
I can recommend Shamian Island for a hotel location - it is like a big park from colonial times. Take the ferry to the other side of the Pearl River, there are streets full of bars and restaurants and you can buy DVD for 5 Yuan.

Within Guangzhou the subway is quite convinient.

I should pay you for the help your giving me :)

Is that hotel close to Pazhou complex?

What about the White Palace or Guangwu Hotel. Are they in a convenient location close to shopping & tourists?

I believe they are 10 mins drive from Pazhou complex.

Any dvds in this region? :)

Troublesome train trip as it is very long hours? Any idea how many? Is it a direct route or do we have to get on and off? Would a bus trip be better?

Guangwu hotel: is near to East Railway Station, Computer City and Tianhe Entertaiment Center. Any idea if they are in good locations? I will donate at the temples :)

Maybe we need an expert on this case, HELP!

But Panyu city is quite far off the core city center with its sights.

Even East railway station is off the close center, but subway connection is good.

I havent explored both places, so I cant give you any recommendations - the hotels might be great - and if you need to be close to this Pazhou Center it is fine.
But for the center you need to go somewhere else....
