If you heard about or learned these names, you know 60% of China, the innermost part...

1, Confucius
The most important and overwhelming ethical philosophies - the most prominent character is classes - started from him. I have a adventruous thoughts, if a ordinary Chinese feels guilty by doing something, about 30% of possibility is caused by Confucianism in his/ her nature...

2, Qin Shi Huang,
If you have some knowledge about him, you will understand why a united country means that much for China and Chinese people; hence the uniformed language and currency, laws, etc

3, Dong Zhongshu
(Same surname with me:)), he was the very people who developed Confucianism to its extreme level for the feudal government.

4, Li Dazhao
The first Communist himself and the first to introduced Communism into China, well, if he knew then what communism is like now, I doubt if he would change his mind...

5. Mao Zedong
I wouldn't say anything about him...

6, Lei Feng
If you heard about him, you really know a lot about China:), he was the perfect man who made "Serve the people-Mao" his goal of life. I am not sure, but I don't know whoever did better than him

... ... Anybody that can be called "somebody" unlisted?

Wu Zetian and Luxun were important in history, but I do not think they left something really deep into the ordinary people's soul.

Deng Xiaoping, maybe, the one who made an excellent swerve for the society, still needs time to testify. - "When you open the windows, the flies will come in together with the fresh air". I agree, but the flies seem find a ideal place to multiply.

Being able to play basketball in US does not make him an elite of Chinese youth, because this the the time people uphold reaping without sowing in advance, and that's why young people are crazy about Super Girls or super stars or those who become rich or famous overnight.

Being hard working seems outdated... , the abnormal craze for fame and money will ruin this society.

Conny is cute :)

But I personally do not agree with you this time, either.

Before Xuan Zang brought those Buddhism sutras into the China from India, Buddhism had developed extensively and widely known. He did do great contributions to the Buddhism, but I respect him as an excellent scholar and translator.

Zheng He, was the great navigator, but a bad businessman:), he really needed to learn something about commercial. So, being the first discovering America could only be based on guesswork and need lots of proof.

He was or he was not the first to discover America seemed not so important, he had never brought the new IDEAS or something really refreshing to Chinese.

Well, before I started this post I thought it over and I actually wanted to concentrate on those few individuals only had done/ written something in history that you can find the imprints or signs in the ideology in present Chinese people as a whole.

There won't be many..., anyway.
