Laotze and his Daoism did influence the Chinese people and their way of thinking deeply. At least, Daoists now have something to rely on - fortune-telling.

Ideas of Makesi and Engels (sorry, dont know his name in Chinese) influenced China during the last 50 years and still are the basis for todays political system.
But how can you explain the change after Mao by Deng Xiaoping to liberate the market economy?
Well, according to Makesi the communist society must be the further development after free market economy, as a kind of evolution. This made it possible to explain the change from a break-down planned economy to free market economy....
In other words, you have to exploit people first to build a better society;-)
