What are some good places to visit in Wuhan or nearby that can be reached by public transportation? Any mountains/hiking or boat cruises? Is there a Mulan lake or mountain?

I have only heard about the Yellow Crane Tower. How long should I spend there?

Are there any festivals soon?

Yellow Crane Tower is pretty average.

The University has a lot of history in Wuhan, and Uni's are always a great place to meet people :)

Oh and the museum is one of the best in China.... i heard.
