| California, a minute later I'll send you a copy (English version) of my letter that I had sent to Dalian Forest Bureau - look into your personal mailbox. If you translate it into Chinese and send to that bureau, I'd be very grateful. (I attached a photo to my English version but this system doesn't transfer it. Could you send me your e-mail for transfer the photo? I promise use it only for sending the photo). As to trip to Zhenbao, it is a very difficult problem because any foreigners are not admitted there (my colleague did an attempt but failed: Chinese border guards stopped him at the river bank). I ask you to explain me one geographical question. As far as I know the Zhenbao (Damanskii) Island is a part of Hulin County now. And Hulin County is a part of Heilongjiang Province. Right? But in such case why are the photos of the Island at the site of Raohe? (I even didn't find this town at my map) General questions to everybody who reads this: 1. Does anyone have any friends or relatives in Baoqing? (The cemetery of perished Chinese soldiers is located there). 2. Who knows any ANOTHER cemetery where Chinese soldiers perished at Zhenbao were buried? (I have reliable information that such cemetery exists and looks as 3 large hills). 3. Did anybody hear anything about the next veterans of Zhenbao: Sun Yuguo (just he commanded to open fire 2 March 1969, living in Shenyang today) Jin Qinlong (he shot 2 times in air as a signal to begin the attack 2 March 1969) Du Yongchun (participant of the battle 15 March) Hua Yuze (he shot down Sovier armored car with a grenade launcher) Zhou Dengguo (he shot a Soviet officer, commander of the local Border Post) Leng Pengfei (commander of batallion, living in Harbin today) Ma Xianze (he was a commander of the ambush at the island 2 March 1969) Cao Jianhua (together with Ma organized the operation 2 March 1969) Wu Yonggao Shi Rongting (participant of the battle 2 and 15 March) Sun Baosan (participant of the battle 2 March) Zhou Xijin (participant of the battle 2 March) Ken Puhai (commander of Chinese artillery during the battle) Yu Hongdong (participant of the battle 15 March, living in Dalian today) ? |
