I will be traveling from Alaska with my wife to Guilin near the
end of June from Shanghai. I think we will have about 5 days to
take everything in. It has been a dream destination for us for
many years. We would like to go by ourselves rather than a tour.
Can someone recommend an itinery for 4-5 days and where to
stay. And the best way to get there from Shanghai. I am sure it
will be hot and crowded in this time of year, but it is the only
time we have.

thanks
jim

Day 01: Entry Guilin
Visit the Fubo Hill and the Seven Star Park.

Day 02: Guilin/ Yangshuo
Enduring memories are created today as you cruise down the Li River to Yangshuo.

Day 03: Yangshuo
You can find a tiny and enigmatic world with the breathtaking scenery and have a pot of tea in a sidewalk cafe feeling totally relaxed. You can rent a bicycle to visit the Moon Hill and the Big Banian Tree.

Day 04: Yangshuo/ Guilin/ Exit
Transfer back to Guilin by car. Visit the Reed Flute Cave and the Elephant Trunk Hill.

If you have enough time and feel this itinerary is not to your heart's content. Also Longshen Terraced Fields and the Village of Yao Nationality and the Suspension Bridge, and Dong Nationality Village, the Shelter Bridge and the Drum Tower in Sanjiang should be considered.

Please bear in mind that in june there is a big chance of rain in Guilin. Just so you know and don't get too disappointed if it rains a lot.

Daisy,
thanks for the information about the different things to see. I
will do some research on these places. Is the best way to get to
guilin is to fly directly from Shanghai. I think it is a long way and
possible to fly directly into Guilin. So summer will be very hot -
do you recommend very light clothes and a raincoat. Are shorts
ok to wear for my wife?
thanks for your help

Hi Alaskan!
Yes, it rains a lot in June. Though it is summer, you'd better take some T-shirts. Raincoat and umbrella is the necessities.

Hello Jim,

We were in Guilin/Yangshuo last month. I enjoyed the night boat tour of Guilin very much. Also would reccoment the Magnolia Hotel in Yangshuo. Did not stay there but checked it out and wished we had.
