At first,it is the core area where the panda lives.most of the panda are in Sichuan province.to the southwest of Chengdu, there is Bifeng valley natural reserve;to the northwest of Chengdu lies Wolong panda reserve, which is the most natural place where panda roams.still there are spot areas to the north and west Chengdu.
secondly,it is the main entrance to tibet.also, you can visit western Sichuan from Chengdu.the west part of Sichuan is one of the tow parts consist of tibeten area, another one is Tibet autonomous Region of China.nowadays, western Sichuan is the most hot place for the chinese backpackers, cause there are precious original envirment.
the culture of Shu empire.misterious as Aztec and Maya civilization.Shanxingdui and Jinsha just reveal a tiny part of this civilization.the latter remain was now made into a drama which gained high reputation all over China.
unique natural and cultural resourses,Chengdu, together with Xi'an ,Beijing,Nanjing,Luoyang, etc are the seven ancient capital city of China.
the nearby areas of Chengdu exist three world natural and cultural heritages.Jiuzhaigou-Huanglong natural heritage;Emei-Leshan natuaral and cultural heritage;Dujiangyan-Qingcheng Montain natuaral and cultural heritage;and the will-be heritage----chinese panda and their living place is expected to be granted in the next year.
the urban city of Chengdu is famous for its relaxed living state.people walk more slowly than men in Shanghai or many other main cities in China.they enjoy their comfortable lives, without prejudice to strangers.you will rapidly love it once you stay this wonderful city for a couple of days.
no more pressure,no more a sense of insecurity.

Actually my main reason to visit Chengdu was just its position as the gateway to Tibet...but I must confess offers some more reasons to go there.
