Two simple examples

I love to go shopping at the old port markets because is busting at the seams with colour and characters.
Two weeks ago I took some newcomers to town and we one lady we bought something from spoke rather boldly in Chinese that she hated the Americans and Japanese but she loved the Australians. Now she didn't elaberate on her reasons and would we have understood. I think not. But guess where I am from. When I told her, I open my arms to give her a big huge and she responded in kind. A touching moment.

Today I visited the same markets with another newcomer to town and as we were leaving we got greeted by a couple walking up the street behind us who sounded like they knew us. I turned as I sometimes do to recipricate and the smiles on thier faces made me reach out and shake hands like we were old friends. I have no idea who they were and will likely never see them again.

Nice experience if not a little amusing but would they do this to a fellow Chinese.
I think not, but this is China and we are very different in appearance, culture and still quite a novelty for the majority.

Every day is blessing and a challenge
