We are thinking of a 30 day guided trip to Beijing, Shanghai, Wuhn, Lhasa, & Hong Kong, in March- April, I am concerned about the reports of Bird Flu (H5N1 ).How is the weather this time of year? How much sun do you have?

WEATHER: read the post before, or condensed in a few words, the weather is perfect during springtime. Beijing can get cold, even short snowfall in March. Shanghai nice, sometimes rainy. Lhasa in March was much warmer than I had expected. Up to 20 degrees Celsius in the sun, below zero at night. HK: rainy and foggy, but quite warm DISEASES: I was always lucky in chooseing the best times to travel in China: In spring 2003 I ran around during SARS, in spring 2004 I was aroung during bird flu, sharing my busseats with chickens in rural areas. BUT it was not as bad as it was shown in Western media. At least in my country they made a huge hype out of it and I got nervous calls from home... I actually caught a cold with some symptoms similiar to SARS and because of the weird media hype the doctors were afraid to check me. Can you belive that? Well educated people who had to swear to help people just went nuts! All of it just because of a media hype..... So, of course you always have to be careful when travelling and basic vaccination and medicine is always a must, there is no reason to get too nervous. You can get hit by a lightning at home, too;-)

The weather was just my exprience of those places you asked for during this time. Check temperature tables to be sure!

PS: the doctors in my homecountry after I returned into the so called modern health care system.......I think a medicine man from the jungle would have kept cooler than those "doctors"......
