Hi, I need some help regarding living in Beijing. I have spent some time working there and have seen were people live mostly: purpose built apartments in tower blocks. I am moving there for a year this coming September and Im looking for something authentic to live in, not these flats (which are very nice but just not me). Any suggestions?

Hi! I don't think flat rental is concerned with the visa.
And if your visa is valid, you can rent. That is to say, I think it all depends on the valid period of your visa. Of course you can rent flat in Beijing during this period.
