Getting a friend into China: Help! | |

I'll be living in Deyang City in Chengdu for six weeks (starting in late June and lasting until August 8th). At the end of my tenure as a teacher, I really want to have my girlfriend join me in China for a weeklong sojourn through the Sichuan Province, and maybe even Tibet. But my understanding is that she is required to receive a letter of invitation before she can be issued a visa. My questions are: Is this always the case? If so, is it difficult to obtain? If she needs one, should I ask the company that is employing me, or is that inapproporiate, or even more of a concern, will the expect a large favor from me in return? Any other comments or thoughts are welcome as well. Again, thanks in advance for the help. -Matt

Invitation is no need, call China Ministry of Foreign Affairs to get more information.

If it not works, your company can give your girlfriend the invitation letter.

The invitation letter is not necessarily needed. For US citizen, your flight ticket or travel itinerary can be of help for applying the visa.
