Yes, Qingdao pijou is the best throughout China in my eyes (of course there are other good ones, too). It is the first and oldest beer in China, plus it is available all over the country.

About wine, I really like the pragmatic way of the Chinese interpretation:

They mix red wine with sprite for example, very interesting. I guess a French wine purist would go crazy about that, not to say beeing offended;-)
But why not? China is a mix of old and new, so is this way of drinking wine.....

If you watch Chinese soap operas (I forgot the name) drinking wine seems to become stylish. Or the tv advertisement of "Great Wall" wine, where a guy drives in his Porsche to an old castle or vineyard - drinking a nice glass of red wine in front of a fireside.....they sell more than just wine, it is a certain lifestyle or even a dream.

Actually you have to drink one with the blood and one with the gall - I only made it to the blood;-)

(but know you know how diseases spread......)

In fact, I'm more interested in the process and ingredients. Chinese medicinal alcohol and cuisine are magically wonderful. As for taste, I still prefer to yellow wine. but just can drink a little, a cup or two is okay, then tomorrow, a little again...and so on..

Ok, the complete process:

1. choose the right snake out of those many boxes in front of the restaurant (well inside)

2. stay with the cook, make sure the dont put a bicycle tyre on your plate later.

3. They chop off the head and squeeze the blood out of the still moving snake body into a glass with a shot of some Maotai

4. the open the body and take the gall out, into another glass with a shot of Maotai

5. they cut the snake into pieces and fry it.

6. Gan bai!

Ingredients in this case:
simple Maotai, blood and gall, plus a strong belief;-)
