![]() | Hello, I am writing in relation to an application which I have submitted to the Australia China Council for a two month residency in early 2006 (January/February). My project brief: Catherine proposes to research and document cultural activities in the Pearl River Delta of China. More specifically she is interested in exploring the ways in which communities in the delta are maintaining and identifying traditional cultural practices. This is particularly relevant as the 30th anniversary of the end of the Cultural Revolution approaches (2006). Catherine would like to explore the ways in which local communities are celebrating traditional cultural activities and the way in which these traditions are being interpreted in contemporary culture. My colleague Wendy Mortimer (from the International School) suggested you may be able to provide some ideas as to organisations or individuals whom I should visit or who may be able to assist me in my objectives. I am specifically interested in attending local festivals and exhibitions in the Pearl River Delta, which celebrate traditional cultural and contemporary arts practice. I am currently planning to spend January and February 2006 in the PRD (although this may be subject to change if required) The reason I am seeking assistance at this time is because the Australia China Council requires an expansion of my original proposal which includes the names of people I plan to meet with and organisations/institutions, I will be visiting. They have given me a short period of time to collate this information (‘late October’) and I would therefore appreciate any assistance you could provide in this area. Note: Actual meeting times can be arranged IF my application is successful! Yours sincerely Catherine Croll Mob: 0419427002 ccdnsw.org|kate www.CatherineCroll.com |
