Hi,

I'd like to travel alone in all the Kashgar, Urumqi, south of Taklamakan Kunlun areas.

I'm not sure all of these areas can be accessed for foreigner.

Can anybody let me know some or all of the above:

- Which of those areas one can travel alone ?
- Which permits are required (additional to the Chine visa) and what is their maximum duration ?

Thanks for help and best regards

I thought I posted you a reply last week sorry.
You can travel freely to Urumqi and Kashgar and as far as I am aware through the Taklamakan.

You'll just need a valid visa for China and check on road conditions for the desert areas.

I heard that foreigners (and Chinese?) visit the Karakuri Lake and stay overnight there, you need to get a permit.
