Any ferries from Guangzhou to Liuzhou?

I want to get as far as possible, to Sanjiang if I can, or at least to Liuzhou, by river. I have read that there are many freight-carrying boats that take this route, but no passenger ferries at the moment. Does anyone know if it's possible to find any form of water transport up the river? I'm planning to go in February or March 2006. Thanks
