hi,Bird flu seems to be the hot topic everywhere.Infact it has been seen that after vietnam, russia, romania and turkey it is now the turn of US and UK to take the call. Though a lot is being written about the flu, what are the ground preparations being done to control this.. From the CDC reports it is clear that Tamiflu, the effective anit-flu drug is currently out of stock , but there are others such as relenza and amantadine which are available .. While surfing, I found a lot of articles on the bird flu and the treatments which give us a lot of information on the latest happenings and how effective these drugs are :http://www.newshounds.us/2005/10/08/
new_cure_for_bird_flu_send_in_the_marines.php andfrom http://www.drugdelivery.ca/s3855-s-SYMMETREL.aspx .. I believe they can easily be bought online too.

Hi there!

If there is a fusion of the human flu and the H5N1 bird flu to a real PANDEMIA, Tamiflu and all other medicines at the moment wont help anyway;-) They are good for the human flu, but not against the mixture, which would spread from human to human as easily as the human flu and would be as deadly as the bird flu. There is no help yet. So dont panic. All the media hype is crazy.

A couple of days ago a Chinese girl in Hunan province died because the farmers family ate one of their dead chickens...
In Vietnam three french tourist caught the flu on a bird market (they believe) and at least one of them is already dead.

But you know what? There is nothing you can do;-)
Ive been to China during SARS in spring 2003 and during the revival of the bird flu in spring 2004 I was sitting next to a bunch of chickens on overland busses.
My doc told me I should get a flu vaccination before my travels. I was surprised and asked if there already is something against the birdflu. But he just said, no, of course not, but if I catch the bird flu at least I wouldnt be the reason for a fusion of human and chicken flu in my body to a pandemia, bacause with the vaccination you dont get the human flu;-) (so I would just die of the bird flu;-)

This disease is no new invention, think of the pandemia of 1918, called the Spanish flu - a worldwide spread with around 20 millions dead.

The Chinese government reported two new cases in Liaoning province (in the regions of Fuxin and Jinzhou). 1.100 chickens died of the for humans dangerous H5N1 virus. Care was taken immediately by slaughtering 500.000 - there is no more disguising like during SARS.
It was the sixth case within one month in China.

But again, it is no Chinese or Asian problem, it is a worldwide problem. Wild birds spread it all over the world - cases were reported in eastern Europe, Kuwait.....can be everywhere. How do you want to stop wild birds? They dont know borders;-)
