Since January 1 is new years day, I wonder if the attractions , restaurants and specially shopping areas in guangzhou city center will be close.Or will it operate and stay open just like ordinary day?

Yes, they will be. China doesn't have a national holiday for the Western New Year.

Yes they will be open and offering discounts.
And we do have a day off on the new year's day.

I'll heading for Guangzhou next Jan,would like to know what's the weather like at that time ,and how can I find wholesale markets for fashionable things like clothes ,jewellery ~~
