Yes, Cali, you are right. The section were just finished last year. I don't like it very much since it doesn't look like the original one very much! Anyway, we have a WHOLE city wall now.

Marathon can surely damage the City Wall, I believbe. But Marathon around the City Wall will be a good idea. Just think: running around the ancient City Wall, feeling the aura of this ancient city, take time to cross every gate possible. That will be a quite enjoyable thing. The Wooden Pagoda in Yingxian, Shanxi is a perfect example for the damage. Maybe sometimes, our ancient civilization can not overload the modern technology.

Not sure that when these runners do their marathon, they know what is around them ! They will be too focussed on their running. Probably only the amateurs will have the time to admre/appreciate the surroundings, etc.

Me running the marathon ? Hahaha !! I would drop dead way before the halfway mark. Couldn't run for sure - too boring, cannot talk whilst running ! I like sports where there are direct opponents - eg table tennis, badminton, soccer, golf, etc. More of a social sportsmen. Btw, Nov - won't it be too cold to run in the open ?
