i am going to china for buisness on July 4 i have a few days thet i can take off any good ideas were to spend them lest time i went to Hainan
now i want something with cooler weather

Your beach resort choice is a good one and this time personally I suggest you went to mountains forest. Zhangjiajie park in Hunan province will give you cool escape from the hot and the ancient and simple town of Phoenix City (Feng Huang Cheng) will let you see the original watertown and minority flavors. You can start from Shanghai.

Shanghai to Fenghuang

by k71/k74 19:58 to Huai Hua next day 17:40 then take bus to henghua. The last bus is 19:30. The bus trip will take 26 hours.

or flight from shanghai to Zhangjiajie first, then take bust to Jishou (where the Fenghuang is located). But you need to wait till evening to take the bus.
if you take night filght from shanghai, you need to stay overnight at Zhangjiajie then take the morning train (8:01 - 10:15) to Jishou.
