Cheap sleeps in Shanghai?

I am looking for a cheap place to stay in Shanghai, for a couple of weeks starting July 24, 2004. Anyone have any ideas on some cheap sleeps?

To tell the truth,the best place for u I think is the rest house in a University.U can find there cheap accomodation and warm hearted Academicians.

Thank you for your tip. Do you know where I can find the rest house in Shanghai I checked the University of Shanghai but came up empty handed any extra info would be greatly appreciated

Can u speak in Mandarin?There will be a big trouble in ordering a room without Mandarin.
Because cheaper the accommodation you enjoy,
