| Source -- http://www.xanga.com/ The word "Tibet" has, in recent times become associated with "Shambala", a mythical kingdom mentioned in the Kalachakra scriptures. The name conjures up images of the mythical Shangri-La of James Hilton's Lost Horizon, a peaceful Buddhist paradise nestled in the Himalayas, or so the story goes -- until it was "invaded" in the 1950's by the Communists. The non-violent struggle has long entranced Orientalists, Asiaphiles, and liberals, seeking to uphold tolerance and world peace. Or so says the media. In this interview with Lin Dewei, conducted by Mark Saltzmann at Vanderbilt university, we take you on an in-depth examination, beyond the sensationalism of the controlled media, and into the heart of the matter, to examine the truth of things often passed off as facts, and learn the truth behind the story of Tibet and its people since 1950. |
