The Mini Cooper S covertible is a great little car. A British icon. I have not seen this car on China's roads. Why?

The Chinese name fits much better again. It is owned by BaoMa. At least the new mini models.

Why you dont see it very often? Because the version named in the first post costs around 310.000 Yuan. 210.000 for the naked S convertible version. The first number includes all the specials.

How much are the import taxes at the moment in China? Since China is a WTO member the taxes were reduced dramatically on cars, but Im not up to date.

oh ,snowbird ,you should know that car is not widespreaded to common family .

if the car is at the price above RMB300,000 ,it is really a huge amount of money which can buy 10 economic cars in market .

the car has a fashionable style ,and its consumption market is almost aim at youth ,but how many ya can earn 300,000 when they in their 20s , even they have such a mount of money ,will they spent it to buy a car ? definitely not ,unless they are loyalty fans of BMW .

Yes it is a fun car, not convinient for daily life (it is hard to put your shopping goods into the tiny trunk and back seats are more for kids-size) but it is a heck of a drive;-)

Good for dog walk in the morning, double parking in place like Milan, Rome, Nice etc European city. But no good in China, because nobody take it to do romantic stuff like this. In China, always Red Flag, it's classy and patriotic for a HongKei Chinese like me. Ha ha......
