What Zhang Ziyi says is very typical of the thinking of modern day chinese girls.

Most chinese girls are now working are are finacially independent. They don't need to rely of the guys for financial support.

Zhang Ziyi is an actress(very cute) and no philosopher, I guess she would starve if she would have to live from her other skills....

On mainland China, men outnumber women (by a lot!). So, it's basic economics - the men there are quite desperate. And, the mainland women, prefer Taiwanese businessmen...

Seriously, I think she spoke in Mandarin. The reporter translate it in english because it is a english-language newspaper.
