Hello!
I am going to move to Dalian in late February 2006 and would love to know where I can find some basic information about every day live there.
Like, are there any large supermarkets like carrefour in beijing? Where can you buy english books, bikes, ...
Are there any swimming pools or ballet studios.

I would be very gratefull if one of you could help me with this!!

Hi,

I lived in Dalian for a year teaching English in 2001.

I suggest going to www.virtualtourist.com and enter China Dalian and I left lots of info under my name - charbay. Some may be a little outdated (ie restauratns as I do not know if they all still exist but the general info is still good)

I can't help you with the ballet or swimming part.

Excuse my Chinese spelling

There is a Carrefour on Huonghu Lu. Walmart is near the football stadium.

You know Dalian is a NE city,and it is cold in winter,but it is in the south of NE,so it is warmer than the other NE cities!

And yesterday,Dalian was snowed heavily!!!
