pudong airport to... - moment of bewilderment

hi
i need to travel to surrounding cities on the evening i arrive at shanghai pudong airport, around 830pm. does anyone know whether its still possible to get one to another city at that time and whether its safe to do so, or whether its better to stay at the airport hotel for one night and depart the next morning.
