Beijing and Shanghai

Hi

I will be travelling to China in March 2006 (after winning two flights to Beijing in a draw!!). I would really appreciate any advice you could offer on good places to stay (hotels or hostels), visit and nightlife in both Beijing and Shanghai, and also advice on places to avoid! I have lots of guide books but feel that advice from fellow travellers is often better! Also, if anyone else will be in Beijing or Shanghai at the same time and would like to meet up, let me know. Thanks.

Which do you prefer? I mean, luxurious hotel or budget hostel? Historical attractions or beautiful landscape? Traditional Peking Opera Theater or modern bars?

Which do you prefer? Give us more details, plz.

I'll be in Shanghai then, studying at Shanghai Conservatory of Music. Drop me a message if you'd like to meet up. What's your budget for your accommodation? I'll be happy to help.
