Football is known worldwide as a beautiful game.

There is a Man U shop in Shanghai. I suppose football is also very popular in China. Maybe not as popular as some other parts of Asia.

I have also watch live english football league matches in my hotel in Xiamen. It was Man U playing Arsenal.

I think Chinese girls don't have any passion for the game as compared to their counterparts in some Asian countries.

Hi, phoenix, I'm afraid you are wrong. Girls in China are also crazy about football like most of the boys. One of my high school classmates is a devoted football fan. We call her 'football madgirl'.

Football is called the first sport in the sun (天下第一运动). I really have no ideas about it. However I find that there are always an extremely huge group of people watching football matches no matter in which country. Mayone that's one of the reasons.

Hey guys, love the topic =)

Football ("soccer" to some people) is the most popular sport in the world! The World Cup Finals is also by far the biggest sports event in the world:-

1. 2002 FIFA World Cup Final (1.3 billion viewers)
2. Euro 2004 Soccer Final (153 million viewers)
3. 2004 Olympic Games: opening ceremony (127 million viewers)

I noticed lots of football (and basketball) fans in China, the same as everywhere else i visited in Asia. I can't count the amount of conversations i had with the locals about David Beckham!!

I watched Euro 2004 in Malaysia and Thailand, and when England were beaten by Portugal the locals were just as sad as me!! They are very passionate about the England football team.

Sun Jihai (Manchester City) and Tie Li (Everton) are both good players playing in the English Premier League!

Gaz
Blackburn Rovers - Premiership Champions 1995!

Hi,Gaz,

QUOTE:"Blackburn Rovers - Premiership Champions 1995! "---Are you a fan of Blackburn???

I watched Euro 2004 all the night in Beijing,Because of the time difference,I have to watch them after midnight, and when England were beaten by Portugal,I was just as sad as you!! I concerned England,Cz,Denmark,Sweden and Spain.

And I hope England can win the champion in 2006 World Cup in Germany!
