This is probably due to the abundant rice fields in China. But to a westerner, mice eats cheese. This is because there are no rice for the mice. They will starve to death if they can't eat cheese. Mice eating cheese is made popular in the book Who Moved My Cheese. Its lucky the mice are moving cheese. They won't be able to move if it is rice.
