Hello

I was wondering if anyone can help me. I require a translator for the months of September to May in Sanya that has a good command of the english language and is able to translate interviews for me. The interviews are regarding environmental management in the hotel industry. Any leads would be grateful. Sonya

Greeting Sonya,
First off I'm sorry not to have info for you because I'm also looking for a translator in Sanya Nov 2 thru Nov 12. I wondered if we might work together on this. I thought to try the university in Haikou but first get an inguiry note translated into Mandarin.
My companion and I will be joining friends in Hong Kong and Macau for a week late October. We were in Beijing and Shanghai in January and I'm very excited to return to China! I chanced on Hainan when looking for a relaxing beach somewhere and far from crowds to spend our remaining 10 days. With a love of exploring and discovering unusual flora, fauna and rocks Hainan Island sounded perfect. I thought it would be a good idea to try to find a personal guide to show us around. Charlie (my companion)and I are(one might consider)a couple hip middle age types from Seattle. Where are you from? Sounds like you're headed for an interesting job in a really interesting place. Look forward to corresponding, sharing info and the opportunity we might meet come November.

Regards,
Jane Nyhus

Hi there,

I hope we do meet up in November. I believe it may be miss world around that time so you may have no problems finding a translator. As for the university in Haikou, the students are in school so it may not be possible to have them come to Sanya with you. If you are in Sanya only you should be fine without a translator for two weeks. Actually I should be all set up there when you arrive so I may be able to help you out...I am actually at a conference in Hong Kong until about the 11th or so but I can help you with accommodation, food etc. and we can meet up. I find Sanya very isolating as I do not speak the language so it would be great to meet you when you are there. If I find a translator when I arrive in October I'll see if I can get someone to help you out, please let me know as well if you have any luck with a translator. What are you up to in China? Traveling? I am doing my PH.D. research on environmental management in the Sanya Tourism industry. I will be there on and off for about six months. Keep in touch and we'll help eachother out. My email is accommodatinggreen.com|sonyagraci.

Hi,

I am planning to be in Sanya early Nov too (exact dates to be determined). I am a Chinese American so if you still need help at that time - let me know.

David
