We will be in Beijing next week. We are thinking of buying a digital camera there, but wonder about pricing and finding manuals in English. Any information would be very much appreciated.

Buy from a shop in a plaza or a specialized camera/electronics shop, not on a street market.

Shop around because you'll find some places have old prices which haven't been lowered yet and you can always try to bargain them down a little.

We're looking at a Canon EOS 300 right now which has english and chinese in the manual. Its around 1200 RMB cheaper than at home. I purchased a Kodak digital camera last year in asia and it works great. My gf purchased a Canon Powershot here in Tianjin and its totally awesome.

If you are from America and are buying a camera with a chargeable battery pack then make sure the charger can do both 220v and 110v so you can charge it back home.
