Looking forward to a month plus vacation starting Jan 20th. My plan is to head to South China for warmth -- it's very cold here in Inner Mongolia -- I'm from Hawaii! Have been perusing guidebooks and forums for ideas, but would appreciate any suggestions of good places to visit for interesting arts and cultural experiences. My current plan is to go by train from Baotou to Xian to Guilin, then around Yunnan, then after the New Years festivities die down, head to Hainan. I am looking for hot springs, beaches, cities with interesting historical architecture, festivals, etc. Also am looking for some place in South China to spend next winter -- possibly teaching English. All ideas appreciated!

Want to know more about Hainan, I'd like to recommend 'www.chinasanya.com' to you. A good website about Hainan tour. It's really the only tropical city in China.
