Hi: I will be going to China for the first time this fall. I have one of two options. One option includes 3 days on the Yangtze from Yichang to Chongqing(Three Gorges Dam, Xiling Gorge, Lesser Three Gorges, Fengdu). While the other option inlcudes more time in Beijing, Shanghai, and Guilin). Is the Yangtze River cruise still worth it since stage 2 of the project is done (water level at 135M)? Thanks

it is hard to choose~~ If you want to enjoy the comfortable cruise and taste the postcard landscape of the two sides, Option 1 should be chose. Though the water level is higher than before, you can see a total different beauty! If you like to more about the history, option 2 is also great! Choice is according to your interest:D

I've taken the Yangtze cruise this May, though rainy these days, the journey was memorable. While I suggest you do not take the cruise from June to August due to the flood season. The yellow flood may decrease the beauty of the river. Mid september and October must be the best season there. All in all, the cruise is worth your visit, for most of the sites will be underwater after year 2005.
