Bargaining for taxi fee is ok in Guangzhou after 2200.
Also in Fuzhou, there is an 85% to 90% discount in the evening.

Now, I am in Xi'an. The taxi fee rises a little. the start fare is 6 yuan in 3km. However it is cheaper than other big cities in China. Welcome to Xi'an!

Yes. specially in Urumchi Airport or Train Station is very crowded due to a lot number of passangers from inland provinces to Xinjiang, and among the many thiefs. But such case could happen in every place, from Beijing to Mekka or in Washington DC, and all what you can avid is you'd better take care for yourself instead of blaming others.

Not only in Urumchi, such pocketpiking happens in Shanghai and in Beijing, else where in the world.
To avoid this you'd better take care your own packet.

I've found the taxi drivers in Shanghai to be, for the most part, honest and professional. However,in smaller cities--like Xian--many drivers don't like to use the meter, preferring to charge an inflated flat fee instead.
