100 to 200 yuan are enough if u and the bride/bridegroom are not close friends. For clothes, DO avoid black and white clothes!! We chinese believe these colors are not lucky ones. Red, pink, yellow are good choices!

Yes, you should avoid black. But the bride will wear white and red, so, to avoid wearing the same colors with bride will be considered polite.:-)

GUESTBB help! my brother is getting married in california to someone chinese. She is wonderful and such a blessing to add to our family. My family really wants to make a good impression on her friends and family, and we dont want to offend anyone. I was told it would be "formal" for the evening meal, so I first bought a long wine colored dress. Then she told me her brides maids were wearing that color. and that I might be more comfortable in a t length dress. So I exchanged for a green t length dress no frills but still I would consider to be formal. Am I overdressing? And is green ok. I seem to read so many different opinions on traditional. Help please Im in a panic thanks B

haha.....that's easy for a guy,but for a girl,a little difficult,u have to think about the color,the style to avoid the light of the bride.

Yes. I attended several wedding ceremonies. I saw people writing some blessing words on the envelope. And they signed their names on it too.
