I have been offered a teaching english position in Nanchang for two terms at Nanchang university. I am a writer, currently working on a novel. I want to bring my laptop--i must bring my laptop, and my scandisc which contains everthing important to my novel. I also have papers--research, notes, printed papers off the internet...at this website under travel essentials, it seems to say these things will not be allowed in the country at customs (cds, computer discs, etc.. Is this correct? Will I have to leave my research and scandisc at home? The material concerns American history and fiction. It has nothing to do with China. Any advice would be helpful. Thankyou.

Any publication, films, discs, photos, movies, cassettes, tapes, computer scandisc and other objects which can do harm to Chinese politics, economy, culture and moral, etc. will not be allowed to enter!!

I suggest you to browse the official website of Chinese Central Government:
http://english.gov.cn/index.htm

Hope u can find what u want!!
Good luck in China!!
