Border crossing at Hekou

Please advise on experience in crossing from China to Vietnam through Hekou - what accommodation? What was bus trip like from Kunming?

I've done it the opposite way and it was an easy crossing. Accomodation is available on both sides of the border. The bus trip I had between Kunming and Hekou was awful - the roads aren't so good, but the bus I was on broke down nine times - what's more, they came so prepared for breakdown I thought it had to be a regular occurrence. Check you're on a healthy looking bus!

Hi,
Read my Tips, Ive done the trip both ways.
Watch out for a guy named Tom or Jerry I forget his name.
The sleeper bus is long and the other buses dont stop often so pack lots of food.
