I have never been to Dalian, but I agree that Xiamen is within the top 2 among all the cities in China.

Isn't Chengdu polluted heavily?

The criteria used in the survey was on cost of living, environment, job opportunities, local governance, etc.
I too like Dalian, Qingdao & Xiamen. I think they should be nice places to live in. I thought Kunming would be rated as 1 of the better places too. Instead it was listed as the 10th worst - the worst being TaiYuan for its heavy pollution.

Shanghai is liveable? The price level is so high and the pressure is tough! I'd rather prefer those slow-paced cities & towns.

Dalian is the most liveable city in my mind. If ever possible, I will spend the rest of my life in this beautiful coastal city. :)

Every city is heavily polluted. This is unavoidable due to China's heavy usage of coal for fuel.

To getting economy booming at the price of environment is a lesson that most countries have to learn. Good thing is the government and more and more people start to realize that. There will be more and more cities/ place good for living.
