Hi Friends !
Regarding my inquisitiveness about shining green area in Gansu province some member wrote which I want to share with all of you. The land on the north slope of the mountains south of Zhangye is quite fertile. He Says yes, it can easily be that big. When we went through that area in the summer of 2004 we traveled to Mati, which is close to where you are looking. I was struck with how agriculturally productive that part of Gansu is.
have just spent two months in Gui De, along the Yellow River, at 36.03 N,
101.27 E. Although it is more than 2,000 feet lower in elevation than the
area in question, the surrounding countryside rises sharply from the river,
and wheat is the main crop, though not the only one. Where I have been in
the Yellow River Basin the climate, I believe, is slightly warmer than it is
on the north slope of the Qilian, but as you suggested, it could also be
barley or rape. It is hard to tell from the color in the satellite photo.
There is quite a bit of rape and wheat, as well as barley grown in this
area, and I can tell you that all three do well at that altitude in this
climate.
The area under question 38.10-101.27 is amazingly wonderful. It has a mystic mixture of green and beautifully planned plots. Yet to guess till I visit ?
