Hello,

I read about the walking tour from Jinshanling to Simatai. Has anyone heard of it? What are your experiences? Where can I book it and what is the price? How far is it (i had read about 9 km).

Thanks, Ronnie

Jinshanling is a good secetion to hiking the Great wall, and also it is the good place for many shutterbugs. In addition, it is the best tie for photographing from May to Oct. But the Simatai Great Wall is famous for its "steepness". There is seldom the travel agent arranging their guests to hike this part.

Admission:
Simatai: RMB20
Jinshanling: RMB30

It would take you about 3-4 hours from Jingshanling to Simatai.
You can take long-distance bus at Dong Zhi Men to Miyun, and then transfer the mini autobus at Miyun county center which will take you to the Jinshanling tourism area.
There are rest houses at the foot of Jinshanling, about RMB15 for a room with four beds. RMB30-40 for hotel.
Do remember take enough water and food, because the food of the restaurant near the Simatai is so expensive.

Also can take autobus back to Miyuan County, and then take bus back to Beijing.
