Red lantern or red light areas are not something the city is proud of. But many tourists still like to visit these places for sight-seeing. Are there any such areas in Shanghai or other cities.

Haha, Dracula ! U are a newcomer - to China or this website ?
There are no specific red light areas in most of the cities that I have visited except, surprise surprise one such dedicated area in Lijiang !!
In China, u can find what u want at karaoke, pubs, hotels ....
Good luck & have fun !

I also notice many Singaporeans in this forum. I think many come across this forum by accident like myself while looking for info about china. My ancestors from shantou. Heard it is a small village nothing to see. I never go there.

Shantou is not a village. It is bigger than Singapore both in size and population.
It is true that there is nothing much of a natural scenery in most Southern China.
