Many young chinese are working in other cities or provinces. This makes them something similar to genuine 'expatriates". They incur great costs to travel home to see their parents or relatives few times a year. Is it worthwhile to work in other cities?

My frienf stays in Liaoning and she works in Dong Guan. She earns more salary but cannot afford to go home last Spring. It will cost her more that 2000rmb to go home. She would rather save the money.

It is the age old story of the "Grass being greener on the other side of the fence":(( You go to a place to make more money only to find out that all the extra money you make is gone because it cost so much to live there!!

I think this is unavoidable in a big country. Jobs are not always available in where you live - the big cities usually offer more job opportunities.
Everything comes at a price - they must have weighed them and find that it is worth working somewhere else.
This is basically the same as the normal expatriates.
