I am planning to go to Tibet during my China tour. Will a trip to Tibet cost much? I want to spend a week there and how many and what spots I should visit? What should I pay attention to when contact with tibet people? Are there any taboos? Thanks!

That depends. A friend of mine has been to Tibet this June. They hired a Jeep in Xining and traveled to Lhasa, then to Gyangtse and Shigatse. The trip costs him less than 2000 RMB!!! But normally, a visit to Tibet will cost about 5000 RMB.

Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, Dalai Lama's Summer Palace shall of course be on your list. I would like to recommend a visit to Tibet Museum in Lhasa, which you can not afford to miss.

For taboos, you can visit
http://www.tibettrip.com/features/etiquette_taboo.htm, which lists some, but not all
