Hawkers in Chengdu

I visited Chengdu recently and have eaten many roadside hawkers food many times. It is cheap and good. I wonder if these hawkers are licensed by the Government or are they illegal hawkers? Any way to know?

Does it matter whether these hawkers are licensed - as long as the food trastes good and is hygenic !!

I try not to look at how they prepare the food. It does not look hygienic but at least I don't get upset stomach. Thank God! I saw a hawker at Shanghai Railway Station selling fried food using a oil-drum cover as a wok. Aah! She is also doing quite a good business.

I don't think the State Administration For Industry & Commerce of various levels will issue any kind of licence or permit to street hawkers, which means they don't have a stable place to do the business...

I eat the street food, too and never got upset stomach, but some of my friends were not so lucky as I am..., sometimes they feel really bad after eating those food.
