My friend told me that Shanghai is the most expensive city in China. Is it true? How much is needed for basic living in Shanghai compared to other cities of China?

I think it is one of the most expensive city in China!Maybe Guangzhou is the most one!

It's true that living in Shanghai is one of the most expensive cities in China.

It depends on what you mean "basic", if you choose to live in the outskirts of the city, the apartment rentals are comparatively low, but you have to pay a lot on transportation and time to work and back home.

Renting an apartment costs a lot, and it varies according to the location...

Yes, I agree with Conny. RMB 2000 is not a large amount of money in Shenzhen. If u just live simply life, u can deal with it.

Well, 2000 yuan is hardly enough to live in Shenzhen even you got your accommodation covered by your company.
