Hi guy,
Let me answer your question as bellow:
1. The name of the station in border next to HK
It's Shenzhen Railway Station.
Shenzhen city is next to HK, but there is not direct train from Shenzhen to Chengdu. What a pity!
2. Itinerary from HK to Chengdu
1).If affordable, it's better to take a direct flight from HK to Chengdu;
2).Economic itinerary, firstly,take a direct train from HK railwary station to Guangzhou East Railway station, then, tranfer to subway to Guangzhou General Railway station, after that, take a direct train for Chengdu.
(HK-Guangzhou East station-Subway-Guangzhou General station-Chengdu)
Alternatively, take subway train from HK to Shenzhen, then, take train for Guangzhou General Railway station, after that, take a direct train for Chengdu.
(HK-Shenzhen-Guangzhou General station-Chengdu)
