I'm going to Beijing and I haven't been immunized for Hepatitis A. Is it common to get Hep A from food in China. Should I be concerned?

Are the prepackaged tours good or is it better to strike out on your own?

Thanks

Hi there,

Welcome to Beijing! I'm a local Beijingner. Don't worry, actually the hygiene conditions are much better than you've imagined.

Just remember that do not drink the tap water before boiling it, or you could buy bottled water for drinking. Most of the restaurants are clean and safe, but not sure about the street vendors in the night market.

Last month I backpacked to Cambodia. I just have immunization for hepatitis B, and am still alive. :) Have fun in Beijing!
