 | Can anyone tell me if the Datong airport is open and if so, are there scheduled flights to Datong from Beijing? If there is no airport, how long is the train ride from Beijing to Datong? |

| As the result that I searched shows, there no flights between Beijing and Datong. But there are so many trains from Beijig to Datong for you choice. Take K215, depart from Beijing West Station at 15:03, and will arrive at Datong at 20:33. The whole trip would take about five hours and a half. Hope it can help:D |

| take the train as recommended above...we took that train and it is a great way to transfer from al large big city to the nice countryside! And if you want more comfort take a soft sleaper.............. and remind that this train is leaving from the northern train station |

| The overnight train from Beijing to Datong 4433 is convenient, leaving Beijing at 22h58 and arriving in Datong at 7h15 the next morning. Express trains with air conditioning. There are four classes of seat: hard-seat, soft-seat, hard-sleeper Beijing to Datong You will need to get to the railway station 30-40 minutes before departure. TRAIN No. DEPARTURE ARRIVAL PRICE ------K705---23h24---06h30 ------K713---10h10---16h27---35¥ (Hard sleeper) ------4433---22h58---07h15---85¥ (Hard sleeper) Datong to Beijing TRAIN No. DEPARTURE ARRIVAL PRICE ------K714---12h47---18h51---35¥ ------4434---23h40---07h42---85¥ Bus trips between Beijing and Datong take 3 or 4 hours. The plan is for Beijing-bound large, deluxe buses to depart from a station in the south part of the city. Until then, the old long distance bus station is opposite the railway station, another the station is on Yantong Xi Lu near Xingjian Bei Lu.  |
