| i personally prefer going on my own or a group of friends (over some package tour). it gives u a lot of flexibility, u can spend more time in places u like, and skip the activities you're not interested in altogether. where in china are you thinking of going? i've taken planes, buses, and train rides, lived in hostels, budget hotels etc. for train rides, there are usually representative offices but u need a chinese friend to help u out there. for hotels and flights, just book it online at www.elong.net. the prices are amazingly cheap. just bring a lonely planet guide with u and you're all set! =) |

| Yes, I have taken a couple of domestic tours in China. They are really value for money - but on rush rush schedule. Another good point about domestic tours is that they don't bring u to shopping areas as often as packaged tours of overseas tourists. It's also a very good opportunity to mix with the locals. But if u prefer to travel at more lesure pace, then do it on your own. |
