Hi,Is it true that I can get a visa immediately on the Chinese border when coming from Hong Kong.

It should be that you'd better get the Chinese Visa before you enter the China's territory.
So be sure out that get the Chinese visa in advance. And then you can buy the air ticket or train ticket to China.
